A few words…

Everyday that goes by I tell myself that I should write something on my blog… yet lately my life sort of looks like a toy I had when I was young. You know, that spindle that would go on and on because of how you could push on the handle at the top. Except right now in my life there is no handle to stop it from twirling around! My soul is tired, despondent, and demoralized, I admit it. I remember my verse of the year, my one word! I know that God is faithful to his Word and remembers the prayers of the righteous!

I knew God would answer my prayers. I see Him acting in my life and despite everything I am happy about that, yet, this doesn’t take away the hardness and the difficulty of all I am going through. I have the impression that all is falling apart at the same time… sometimes in life it’s like that. I have choices to make in my life in a couple of areas, which will definitely affect others and myself. I would love to put my head in the sand… at any rate, God is in control and many times we must look further than what is before our very eyes.  I cannot see the future but God can.

My heart is suffering right now. My consolation is in knowing that my Savior Jesus Christ also knew some suffering as a human when he walked on this earth and that he understands me. He is holding me in his arms and I can rest in Him when I no longer understand myself or what I am going through…

Meanwhile, besides all this, as weird as it might seem, God has granted me the capacity to start writing on a new project! It’s really crazy but it’s as if I can pass all my pain through this form of expression and I cannot seem to hold it back. I find that it is flowing out of me as if it has been hidden in my heart for many years. So who knows if something good might not come out all this after all? Will see…

I am so thankful and appreciative of all my friends who are faithfully praying for me through these difficult times.

Captivated: Beholding the Mystery of Jesus’ Death and Resurrection

By

Thabiti M. Anyabwile

I love the title of this book! It is so appropriate because when you read it, your heart cannot help but be captivated by Jesus. It’s undeniable, you cannot resist His love and all He has done for you. I truly fell in love all over again with my Savior. I realized in reading this book that I was guilty. I had stopped being captivated and contemplating the wonders of the works of the cross, His death and His resurrection for us, for me.

In one sense I knew this information theologically and come to grips with many of the passages Anyabwile explains. Yet because of how he describes and brings forth the Word of God in a way that moved me so deeply, I saw theses passages in a whole new way. My love for God and my Redeemer Jesus Christ has grown considerably because of this new perspective. Since Anyabwile has a way in bringing the Scriptures alive, this makes it harder to resist seeing all the love our Savior has for us. Thus loving and glorifying Him even more in return!

Also understanding how Jesus truly did suffer painful agony out of love for his Father to save us undeniably makes Him our perfect companion in our own suffering. Therefore we can lean on Jesus Christ for true comfort when we ourselves are suffering. What a biblical truth to come to grips with in your soul and mind. For me it was mind boggling, relevant to my own spiritual growth and in essence a turning point in my own faith with God to actually truly understand this theologically deep truth in my life as one who suffers pain daily.

« We must remember and treasure that Jesus willingly suffered all this so sinners can escape it. Jesus’ abandonment means the sinner’s adoption. He took our place on the cross so we can take His place in the kingdom. »

I cherish this quote. I mean really, I need to read this over and over again to fully comprehend it’s meaning in my life!

This is a short book, yet one of the best and most helpful books I have read to lead me back to the essentials in my Christian’s life. Read the book and be captivated by Jesus’ love for you! You’ll be blessed and fall in love all over again.

Petites bribes de ma vie

Me voilà assise devant mon ordinateur en me disant que je devrais donner signe de vie autrement que des critiques littéraires! Alors voici quelques petites bribes de ma vie depuis quelque temps…

James, mon petit fils a bientôt six mois!

A small window in my life

Here I am sitting at my computer telling myself that I should be giving my readers sign of life, other than book reviews! So here is a small window into my life these days…

James, my grandson is almost six months old! He is my little ray of sunshine since his birth, but mostly these last couples of weeks. I love him dearly! My heart is filled with joy before his little face every time I see him. Thank you Lord.

My secret project will soon be revealed in part… all is going very well! It’s all so exciting!

Our exteriors house renovations are now almost all finished. I am very satisfied of the results. What’s left will be finished off in spring along with a good clean up in the yard.

Here in my part of the country, it’s still very cold. Again this morning it’s 15 Celsius! I am so anxious for spring! Yet slowly the sun is starting to be more present and it is getting warmer…

I am still reading many books these days as you can see and I have not diminished as of yet my book reviews… not as easy as I thought it would be.

On the daily living aspect, lets just say things are very difficult. I am disappointed, discouraged, disillusioned, and despaired with many people, things, and situations… but what it sustaining me is to know that GOD is despite all this, SOVEREIGN!

Life is filled with ups and downs…
