Words… Les Mots…

Being a French Canadian published writer who also blogs regularly, needless to say that words are considerably important to me. Yet, more than that, I must admit that words tend to place me in situations of discomfort many times, to say the least! Many years ago, a friend of mine gave me a birthday present that I still own to this day, with this written on it:

Whoever guards his mouth preserves his life; he who opens wide his lips comes to ruin. Proverbs 13.3

I am mostly taken aback to how easily words can and still, unfortunately, at times just slip out of my mouth so easily without even a second thought. Many verses have been proof in my life that when I let the Word of God filter my life and guard my mouth and my mind, then the strength of the Spirit makes it possible for me to have victory in my life. Yet the flip side to this is letting me be free, in control of my own desires, opening my lips, letting my heart speak to its own fleshly desires and mind! That’s when things seem to spoil themselves…oh my, do they ever!

So when I saw that (in)courage was launching a new line of products, I was excited to go and have a quick look at what was online. I was delighted with the letterpress blocks.. Why? Because I get to decide which letters or numbers I want to order. It’s quite awesome. Actually, you can choose to write out your own word if you wish. That’s what I did. Like I said, I am French and my books are published in French. If you’re reading this on my blog you’ll see that I write the same blog in French and in English. Yeah, I know it does give me a lot of work! Anyways, back to the point, I bought my blocks and wrote my word in French, “Les Mots”, which means “The Words”.

I was so happy that this option was available and that we weren’t limited to the ones already written. Not that I don’t like them, it’s just that I already have many signs with those kinds of sayings. Plus, I wanted something in my language with a personal aspect and significance for my own life. So I ordered “Les Mots”. These words mean so much to me because they are the title of one of my poems from my last book.

Les Mots

My publishers have graciously given me permission to translate and share with you this poem. Please remember that all rights are reserved and cannot be used without permission. Thank you for honoring this!

I share this poem with you because I hope you can grasp the power behind the words. Words are so important for me and yet many times I do exactly as I wrote in this poem…I need to remember the effect of words on others, good or bad. So now regularly I will have Words (in French) written before my eyes when I sit down to write daily. Oh! I’m so happy. Along with that I will have my poem framed beside it! What a blessing to my soul.

Thank you DaySpirng and (in)courage.

Merci DaySring et (in)courage.

At last, those of you who subscribed to our Facebook page have already seen this announcement pass; yep it’s the big official opening of Mam’zelles Creation.

As mentioned previously here, I had informed you that Mélodie and I were working on a project that would be revealed to you in the weeks ahead…which finally turned into months. When you’re working on projects like these, you can’t predict all the problems you might encounter along the way…

So then, while working together on our book “L’amitié dans tous ses sens” we developed affinities and discovered that we had many things in common. This pushed us to invest together in a small enterprise to create beautiful, good quality articles. Some articles have biblical verses on them and others don’t. For now, we have a collection that is in French, and we are looking to have one in English eventually, God willing.

We are starting off slowly, since it is not easy finding time and managing all we’ve got going. Yet, slowly we are aiming to strive to an inventory of products that will surely please many and of all ages!

We have chosen to locate our point of sales on a virtual store called Etsy, see here. It is immensely big as an online store. I have myself bought a couple of products in a several stores and found it to be quite safe. I found incredible stuff that you find nowhere else; it’s fantastic and very secure online buying. Of course, like every other site, the first time you desire to buy, you will need to subscribe by giving your name and a password (create an account). Yet, you can visualize our products without creating an account. In the research zone, just enter creationmamzelles and click. You will arrive on our shop. It’s not more complicated than that!

We deliver worldwide.

To check out all our new products and find out about our occasional specials, follow us on our new Facebook page

Book review of an inspiring true story of courage and much more!

Book Review

Unknown

This is an amazing book for many reasons. If you know nothing at all about this young girl’s story, all I can say is that this is one that doesn’t end well according to our earthly standards. I mean, no one in their right mind desires for their child to die of cancer at such a young age. Right? And with such a rare cancer at that, nobody!

As I read this biography of this young courageous girl living with this cancer called DIPG, I keep thinking of the statistics which have shown that most kids with DIPG don’t survive even a full year and, tragically, 99% of them die!

Cancer has no friends, no gender, no morals, no limits, no age and no family. It is a result of the fall in the Garden of Eden in the beginning of creation. Sin has brought it upon us. We are now living the aftermath of sin and cancer is part of it. It’s sad and I, like most people, want to avoid it. But life doesn’t work that way as this family soon found out…

After reading this true story, I was left with an even more profound truth on my heart that in each of our lives our days are counted and we are to live for a purpose: glorifying God. Of course we know this, but do we live it?

Despite her very young age, I believe Jessie Rees had a sense of this purpose without even knowing it. That is what makes her special even today though she is gone, yet still very present in many people’s lives. She desired to turn her grief outwardly in helping others rather than focusing on herself during her cancer. At her young age, this is remarkably awesome. She was barely 11 years old and already teaching adults by her living through suffering and acting in love, gratitude, kindness, selflessness and acceptance of God’s sovereignty in her own life.

Her wish was to give and share the joy by granting those who were sick the opportunity to receive a gift while they were going through treatments at the hospital. She wanted to give them something to make them smile, spreading joy and hope! What a wonderful heart of kindness and overflow of love. This is where her idea of Joy Jars started and her famous statement of NEGU (never ever give up). All she wanted to do was help those kids she saw… at a time in her life where she was the one who needed it the most!

This story is not one of easy reading; it brought much tears and heartache. I can only imagine the deep pain of losing a child to such a terrible disease. The only comfort as her father repeats is that she is with her Savior and cancer free. I especially appreciated the honesty of Mr. Rees through this painful trial as he graciously permits us to embark along with him and his family. I believe he has granted us a true gift in writing us this book and opening us this window of their precious life to so many. Thank you!

I was deeply inspired by this young courageous girl. Her love for her Lord, her desire to live a life fully and spread joy to others as often and however she could, despite her situation, truly compels me to imitate her. She is a beautiful example of unconditional love. God did not grant her many years to live, yet the years she lived were worth much gold… Oh how much! She died young but she left a legacy behind that has inspired many and is still encouraging today.
