Noix à l’Érable Épicée et Cannelle

 

Malgré que je sois vraiment débordée de ménage comme vous le savez à cause des rénovations dont je vous ai fait part dans un blogue précédent, cela ne m’empêche pas d’avoir le désir d’offrir à quelques personnes qui me sont chères un petit cadeau personnalisé. Ma belle fille m’a fait goûter une sucrerie faite avec des noix. J’ai ensuite trouvé d’autres variétés intéressantes sur Pinterest. J’ai essayé deux variétés et les deux sont délicieuses. J’ai donc décidé de vous traduire une de ces recettes en français, car je la trouve tellement bonne et tout à fait exquise. Cela ferait un excellent cadeau à offrir à un palais fin gourmet! La personne apprécierait grandement, c’est garanti. Et que dire de l’odeur agréable dans votre maison?

Je peux vous dire que j’ai fait cette recette pendant que les hommes travaillaient chez moi. Un homme dans la maison et deux dehors à moins 30 Celsius avec facteur vent. Ils rentraient souvent question de se réchauffer occasionnellement. À chaque fois, il faisait mention de l’odeur qui les faisait carrément venir fou… je leur en ai offert lorsqu’ils ont été prêts et ils ont vraiment aimé!!! Vraiment.

Noix à l’Érable Épicée et Cannelle

Ingrédients :

1 blanc d’œuf

2 c. à table de sirop d’érable

2 tasses de pacanes

1 tasse d’amandes

½ tasse de sucre blanc

½ c. à thé de sel de mer

1 ½ c. à thé de cannelle bio.

½ c. à thé de cardamome (si en grain, moudre au mortier) *** cette épice est très importante, car elle donne beaucoup de son petit goût exotique, à ne pas soustraire.

½ c. à thé de noix de muscade râpée fraîchement

¼ c. à thé poivre de Cayenne***

Instructions :

  1. Préchauffer le four à 300F. Mettre du papier parchemin dans une tôle à biscuit profond.
  2. Dans un grand bol, faire monter en mousse le blanc d’œuf avec le sirop d’érable.
  3. Dans un autre bol, mélanger les épices et le sel avec le sucre.
  4. Mettre les pacanes et les amandes dans le mélange de mousse de blancs d’œuf et les enrober complètement en brassant délicatement.
  5. Ajouter le mélange de sucre en brassant pour s’assurer que le tout est bien couvert du mélange de sucre dans la mousse de blancs d’œuf.
  6. Étaler le mélange au complet sur la tôle à biscuit en séparant le plus possible les noix sur la surface à plat.
  7. Faire cuire 15 minutes et retirer. Brasser délicatement et remettre au four pour encore 15 minutes.
  8. Laisser refroidir complètement avant de ranger dans des contenants hermétiques tels des petits pots Masson pour offrir en cadeaux.

Pour vraiment se régaler, il faut en manger au moins quelques-uns chauds, c’est un pur délice! Miam miam…

Peut-être, vous voudriez garder la recette et en offrir à chaque année comme nouvelle tradition. Les gens les attendront avec impatience, c’est garanti. Ou bien vous leur donneriez la recette et ils s’en feront eux-mêmes… mais c’est toujours très agréable de garder une tradition ou recette spéciale, non!

Maple Cinnamon Spiced Nuts

Although I am extremely busy these days as I have written in a previous post, with cleaning up because of renovations and all, this has not kept me from having the desire to offer those I love and cherish a special personalized gift. My daughter-in-love offered these wonderful sugar coated nuts that she made from a recipe she found on Pinterest. I tried two varieties and liked both of them. The one I posted with the pictures I’ve taken, is the one I have given you the link  here.  ****The only thing I changed in the recipe is that I cooked the nuts at 300F instead of what she recommends. They are perfect and this way you don’t have to watch out for them to burn!

This would make an excellent gift to offer a loved one or bring to your guest if you are invited over for the holidays. The person receiving the gift will greatly appreciate it I can guarantee that. Especially if they have a taste for good exotic cuisine!

While I was doing this the men that where working kept coming in the house because it was -30 degrees Celsius outside that day. They where going crazy with the odour in the house and I offered them some so they could taste what smelled so intoxicating! They loved it.

Maybe you will want to keep this recipe a secret and offer it as a new tradition to those you love every year. They will wait for it with impatience, that’s for sure!  Or you could give them the recipe and they will make there own… but isn’t it nice to have a new tradition and a secret recipe!

Book review of Housewife Theologian finally!

Aimee is a very impressive articulate writer to say the least. Of course if you follow her blog Housewife Theologian, you already know this. Don’t expect the bar to be any lower in her book. In fact I found quiet the opposite to be true. Maybe it’s because I’m a French Canadian and English is my second language, but Byrd really has an eloquent vocabulary. Reading her serves to be very inspiring and knowledgeable for my own personal writing skills!

But this is very secondary to her teaching gift that she pens so elegantly into her book! I say this because I know a really good book when I read one. Not because I like the author, which I do! Yet because beyond that, and most assuredly since it is based on the word of God, the Scriptures. Amiee constantly brings her readers to think on the Word and learn to live, breath and love it. Like she often says to us, “learn to be good theologians”. Discerning between the truth and the lies by knowing our God and His word. She desires to awaken in us a true love and passion for Christ as women right where we are. That being, even if we are choosing to be delightful “housewives!”

Don’t be fooled though by her title! I personally believe that the title does not fully put into full value and do justice to the great stuff this book contains, if you where to stop there. It could be misleading if you don’t read on. What I mean is the book is filled with great knowledge that goes way beyond what one might expect behind a title containing such a word  like  “housewife.” Which Aimee explains well in her book. Once you start reading, you quickly comprehend where the author is going with such a title and why she chose that specific word. I hope that women will not get stuck on this word – “housewife” and move beyond it, so that they may be blessed by the richness of what Aimee has written in this book.

The book is filled with solid theological teachings that are much needed. Not just for married women I might add but for all women. It just might bring an awakening of our lack of many misunderstandings in our comprehension of biblical foundations that need adjustments. Or, it could confirm what we already believed and affirm our faith! Either way, Aimee has done a wonderful job in delivering us a well thought out book that is written with great candor.

This is far from being a « Martha Stewart » book on the how too’s of cooking and such things. Not that I have anything against those kinds of books.   But if this is what you are expecting, well you won’t find it in this book. 

What was interesting to me was to see the entire different subjects that Byrd intertwined into her book. Many I didn’t expect. I guess with that title I had a preconceived idea of what I was going to read. This book was like a cracker jack box for me. It was full of wonderful surprises that I found great delight in reading. Subject like sin, submission, friendship, hospitality, sexuality, biblical femininity, true Christian unity and many more interesting subjects.

After every chapter there are journaling questions that are deep and stimulating for the mind spiritually. They can be done alone or in small groups with other woman. This would also be a great book to do with someone you are mentoring.  

I strongly suggest that you invest in a few dollars into this book and you won’t regret your money’s worth! There is much to gleam from and you will read it most likely more than once. This is one high quality book, based on the Word of God with a writer that certainly knows how to deliver a good message. I think  all Christian woman would greatly profit from the reading of Byrd’s book. I highly recommend it!

Rénover dans le temps de Noël!?!

Comme vous, je suis aussi très occupée. Mais peut-être pas pour les mêmes raisons! Quoique nous sommes très près de Noël, moi, je suis occupée à vaguer à plein de choses. Je dois dire que ma tête n’est pas vraiment à l’ambiance festive de Noël. La raison est fort simple, nous (je) sommes débordés par de grosses rénovations de maison. Je croyais que l’entrepreneur ferait cela au printemps 2014, mais non, aujourd’hui, il semble que l’hiver n’est plus un facteur qui les arrête!

Je peux vous dire que changer des fenêtres et des portes à -20 degrés Celsius en plus du facteur vent, ce n’est pas froid, mais fret!!! J’ai passé la journée avec mon manteau et j’ai gelé toute la soirée… j’ai dû aller me réchauffer un peu chez mon fils afin de pouvoir tenir le coup.

Je n’ai drôlement plus d’énergie pour ce genre de truc, pourtant je vais être super contente lorsque le tout sera terminé. Mais franchement pour l’instant, je suis très fatiguée de tout ce que ceci me demande. Je suis constamment en train de faire du ménage, alors ne vous demandez pas pourquoi je n’ai plus le temps d’écrire ou de lire!!!

Donc, avec l’approche de Noël et cette situation, il ne m’est pas facile de trouver la force physique nécessaire et le courage de tout faire, genre refaire mon ménage encore une fois. Il me semble que ça fait déjà quelquefois que je recommence! Les ouvriers doivent souvent entrer dans la maison… ce qui n’aide pas à garder cela propre.

Dans toute cette aventure, je dois vraiment garder mes yeux sur Christ et rester centrée sur Lui plus que jamais. Mon intimité me manque plus que jamais avec mon Dieu. J’ai des hommes sur des échafauds tout le tour de la maison dès 7 heures et ils voient tout dans ma maison. Difficile! Ils rentrent chez moi comme ils veulent puisqu’ils doivent garder bien des choses au chaud, et c’est correct comme ça bien sûr.

Ah… voilà ma vie depuis plus d’un mois. Mais encore une fois, je me rends compte comment je suis dans l’abondance tant monétairement, physiquement et même spirituellement. C’est vrai que les choses ne sont pas comme j’aimerais pour mon temps de culte personnel avec mon Dieu, je ne suis pas non plus dans l’ambiance idéale de Noël. Ma maison est pêle-mêle, je suis fatiguée et épuisée de faire du ménage. MAIS malgré cela, j’ai la joie d’être en train de faire de belles rénovations. Je suis aimée de Dieu et je suis surtout et avant tout, un enfant du Dieu très haut qui a donné Sa vie à la croix pour me sauver de l’enfer et ça, ce n’est pas banal!!!

Malgré mon horaire bien chargé, je prends quand même le temps de faire « Advent », avec un livre qui nous prépare à la venue de Jésus sur une période de 25 jours. Il est excellent. C’est celui-ci. Il y a une lecture de la Parole de Dieu lié à une courte méditation qui nous porte à réfléchir ainsi qu’à nous questionner sur notre lecture. J’apprécie beaucoup ce livre. Il m’aide à fixer mes yeux sur la vraie raison de Noël et à garder l’équilibre malgré cette situation très stressante et surtout à cette période de l’année.

N’oublions pas la vraie raison de Noël!

Rénovations 2013

Doing renovations during Christmas time!?!

Like most of you I am extremely busy. But maybe not for the same reasons! Although Christmas is really close, I am very occupied overseeing many things. I must say that my mind is not really in the festival mood of holiday spirit. The reason is simply because we (I) are overloaded with big renovations with our house. I thought the contractor would be doing this in spring of 2014, but it would seem that winter is not an obstacle that stops them anymore!

I can tell you that changing doors and windows at – 20 degrees Celsius along with the wind factor, makes a home really, really cold!!! I spent the whole day with my coat and boats on, and I froze all night before the house warmed up… I had to go warm up at my sons place to hold up.

I find that I don’t have the energy I used to for this kind of stuff anymore, yet I know that I will be very happy once all is finished. But frankly, for know I am just exhausted of all it demands. I am constantly doing washing and cleaning up. So don’t ask yourselves why I don’t have time to write on this blog or elsewhere, hardly any time to read  anymore!!!

So, with Christmas arriving and me being in this situation, it is not easy finding the physical strength necessary and courage to do all that I need to do, like continually doing over and over my housework! It seems like I keep doing it again and again. This being that the men come in the house often… which does not help to keep the house clean!

In all this adventure, more than ever, I must keep my eyes focused on Christ and keep everything centered on Him. I miss my intimacy with God so much. I have men surrounding my home on scaffolds working from 7 in the morning. They see everything in my home. Difficult!  They come into my home like they want since they must keep certain things they work with warm, which is perfectly fine.

Ah… well, this has been my life now for more than a month. Yet again, I realize once more how I am abundantly blessed money wise, physically, and spiritually. It is true that things are not as I wish they’d be for my quiet time with the Lord, I am not having my « quiet »  habitual quiet time, I’m also not in the best of Christmas’ moods. My house is a mess, I am tired and maybe exhausted of doing housework. BUT, despite all that, I am joyful that we are doing wonderful renovations. I am loved by God. And mostly, no especially, I am a child of God Almighty from above, who gave his only Son on the cross to save me for eternal hell. That is not something to be taken lightly!

Despite my very hectic schedule, I am still taking the time to do “Advent”, with a book that helps us in preparing for the coming of Christ in 25 days. It is excellent. It’s this one. There is a reading of the Word of God,  and a short mediation with questions. I appreciate it very much. It is helping me to fix my eyes on the real meaning of Christmas and to keep things  in balance despite the situation and all the stresses in my life surrounding Christmas this year.

Let’s not forget the real meaning of Christmas!
