Ma liste « des meilleurs » livres de l’année 2013

Je trouve que cette liste n’est pas plus facile à faire cette année qu’elle l’a été l’an dernier! Et je dis cela encore pour les mêmes raisons. Voir ici mon blogue de 2012. Vous trouverez aussi la façon dont je fonctionne pour sélectionner « mes meilleurs livres » c’est-à-dire pour faire la liste. Je suis un peu en retard si je me compare aux autres blogueurs, mais bon, je n’aime pas vraiment la comparaison, et en plus je me dis que l’année n’est pas finie encore!!! Ha ha… et mieux vaut tard que jamais dans ce cas-ci, non?!

Enfin, voici mes choix, parmi les critiques littéraires que j’ai écrites. Je dis cela parce que j’ai lu plus de livres qu’écrit de critique, mais je vais faire mon choix parmi celles que j’ai mises sur blogue seulement.

Donc voici mes choix pour l’année 2013

5 — When God Intervenes by Dabney Hedegard

En général, lorsqu’on lit le petit résumé sur la jaquette arrière d’un livre, on pense savoir ce qu’il contient. Bien, voilà, ce n’est pas vraiment ce qui se passe dans ce cas-ci! Hedegard écrit d’une façon géniale et honnête, tout en allant droit au but. Son écriture est d’une transparence remarquable, simple et élégante. Lire la suite ici.

4 – Résoudre les conflits quotidiens par Ken Sande et Kevin Johnson

Ce petit livre de 147 pages se lit facilement et rapidement. Les auteurs nous communiquent des points pragmatiques et bibliques sur la réconciliation pour nous aider à rétablir la paix lors de conflits. Lire la suite ici.

3 – Defending the Faith By Mary Jo Sharp

Lorsqu’un livre m’interpelle à ce point, je suis bien consciente que c’est fort probablement l’Esprit qui veut m’enseigner. Et cela se révèle encore vrai dans ce cas-ci! Comme je suis diaconesse à mon Église, responsable du ministère des femmes et que j’enseigne moi-même, ce livre m’interpelle d’autant plus. Lire la suite ici.

2 — Housewife Theologian By Aimee Byrd

Je suis désolée pour mes lectrices francophones, car je n’avais pas pris le temps d’écrire celui-ci en français. Il n’est pas facile de trouver le temps d’écrire en anglais et français chaque blogue! Le livre n’est pas traduit en français et je doute qu’il soit traduit dans un avenir proche, ce qui est dommage, car il est excellent. Si vous lisez l’anglais, vous pouvez lire la critique ici.

1- Resisting Gossip by Matthew C. Mitchell

Ceci est vraiment ma #1 de l’année et le livre que je vous recommande fortement de vous procurer si vous pouvez livre l’anglais. Sinon, je sais qu’il sera probablement traduit en français dans peu de temps, il restera à attendre patiemment sa sortie. Ce livre, selon moi et bien d’autres blogueurs, est le meilleur livre sur la médisance qui soit sur le marché actuellement. Il explique de façon biblique et claire un sujet dont nous ne parlons pas assez. Mais vous pouvez lire ma revue ici. Ce petit livre s’est retrouvé sur plusieurs listes des « meilleurs livres » parmi quelques blogueurs de haute renommée cette année!

My list of the “best books” I read in 2013

I found that it wasn’t any easier to do my list this year than last year! It’s never easy to do this list. I know that if I compare to other bloggers, I am late in coming, but comparison is not my style. Plus in this case, I’d say that it’s better late than never. Right?

I’ve made my choices among the books that I’ve done book reviews on because I have read a lot of other very good books also.

But first, seeing as I didn’t translate my blog in English in 2012 I want to take some time to explain how I proceed to chose my books that make my list of favorites. Being as I am myself a published writer, this is something that I don’t take lightly and I consider it to be delicate and at times, even to be misinterpreted. But life is made in such a way that many times we compare ourselves, things, or in this case, good books! So it goes without saying that it is of the utmost importance that I am diligent in my choosing wisely, with wisdom so that it may be according to the Word of God. So for my selection, it’s not very complicated, my criteria’s are very simple.

Here they are:

It is important that the book is based as much as possible on the Word of God.

I look to see if the writer is promoting more his or her personal truths rather than the truths of the Scripture.

Is the writer looking for glory or is the writer giving glory to God.

Did the book bring new knowledge, insight to me or they are awakening something in me spiritually?

And to finish off, I deeply appreciate it when a book reads itself with great fluidity with a nice size text. (Not to small) I also love it when they add design and style! These are minor details, yet they add much to a book.

The most important of all is the theological aspect, but it won’t be in this blog that I will be discussing this!

5 — When God Intervenes by Dabney Hedegard

This was a true story that I absolutely loved – In general, after reading the back cover as reference, you sort of think you know or guessed what your in for. Actually, this is not quite what you will be getting in this case. Hedegard writes brilliantly and honestly, all the while going straight to the point. Her writing style is remarkably transparent, simple yet elegant. You can read the rest here.

4 – Resolving Everyday Conflict par Ken Sande et Kevin Johnson

This small book of 147 pages reads easily and rapidly. The authors communicate both the pragmatic and biblical sides of reconciliation in order to help us attain peace during our troubled times. Therefore we are able to practice our theology! Read the rest here.

3 – Defending the Faith By Mary Jo Sharp

When a book steers my soul so deeply I am very much aware that most likely it is the Holy Spirit that is teaching me something through it. It has proven to be true once again in this case! Since I am deaconess in my church for the woman’s ministry and I do teach myself, this book had me stop and take into question some things. You can read the rest here.

2 — Housewife Theologian By Aimee Byrd

Aimee is a very impressive articulate writer to say the least. Of course if you follow her blog Housewife Theologian, you already know this. Don’t expect the bar to be any lower in her book. In fact I found quiet the opposite to be true. The book is filled with solid theological teachings that are much needed. Not just for married women I might add but for all women. Read the rest here.

1- Resisting Gossip by Matthew C. Mitchell

This is my #1 book of the year, which I highly recommend you purchase. This book is the most important little book on gossip that you will every read. It has made the list of  “best books of the year” with well know bloggers. It’s really, Really good!!! In this small book you will find out biblically and clearly many important things on gossip.
