Rahab : une vie honteuse rachetée

Il est intéressant de voir comment j’ai pu me reconnaître dans certains aspects de chacune des femmes que nous avons vues à ce jour. Et vous?

Je ne peux pas m’identifier littéralement à la vie de Rahab. Par contre, moi aussi, à un moment donné dans ma vie, Dieu a touché mon cœur et l’a disposé à croire en Lui! Car comme Rahab, mon cœur était aussi pécheur et avait le besoin d’être sauvé par YHWH.

J’ai tellement aimé voir comment John MacArthur met l’accent sur le fait que même si Rahab avait menti en disant que les espions israélites n’étaient pas chez elle, la question du texte biblique n’est pas là. Il y a eu bien des débats et des suggestions à ce propos pour en arriver à certaines conclusions. Par contre, le point crucial reste le même, elle a menti. Je le cite : « Je ne vois pas la nécessité de tenter de justifier le mensonge de Rahab. Était-ce nécessaire de mentir pour accomplir un grand bien? Certainement pas. »1

Ce que nous arrivons à comprendre est que Rahab est nouvelle dans sa foi et elle connaît à peine son Dieu, YHWH. Elle est, de ce fait, encore très influencée par la culture corrompue reliée à son entourage et son métier de prostituée. Peut-on s’attendre à plus d’une nouvelle croyante? Elle fonctionne encore sous son ancien mode de vie, sa vieille nature comme un pilote automatique, je crois.

MacArthur le dit bien :

« Elle est, et sera toujours un symbole vivant de l’effet transformateur de la foi salvatrice.

C’est là le message principal de la vie de Rahab ».2

Encore une fois, je retiens bien des leçons qui m’encouragent énormément de cette merveilleuse femme dans la Parole. La plus grande leçon sans contredit est que malgré une faible connaissance de notre Dieu, nous sommes toujours un outil qu’il peut utiliser pour Son royaume lorsqu’on le laisse nous guider. Elle en est la preuve malgré ses faibles connaissances de son Dieu. Rien n’est impossible à notre Grand Dieu!

Rahab: A Horrible Life Redeemed

It’s interesting to note that, since the beginning of our study of this book, I have been able to identify myself with every single woman that we have seen so far (up to a certain point). How about you?

Despite the fact that I cannot identify with Rahab’s immoral life style, I can certainly identify with the fact that I have been touched in my own life by the almighty God himself, and he has prepared my heart to believe in Him! Like Rahab, my heart was sinful and in great need of being saved by YHWH.

I love how John MacArthur places the emphasis on the fact that, even though Rahab did lie in saying that the Israelite spies were not in her home, the biblical question isn’t about her not telling the truth. Many debates and suggestions have been alleged about this passage, and we could come to our own conclusions. Yet, as it stands, she lied. I quote him: “I see no need to try to justify Rahab’s lie. Was it necessary for a greater good? Certainly not.” 1

What we finally come to understand is that Rahab is new in her faith and she hardly knows her God, YHWH. She is, on the other hand, still very much influenced by the corrupted culture that surrounds her, and she has been a prostitute all her life. Can we expect more from a person who has been under such influences all her life and becomes a believer because of what she has heard from Israel about God’s dealing with them? She responds in her old nature, as an automatic pilot would; it was a natural way of responding, I believe.

However, we do see that there is an action when she does refuse to act on automatic pilot. That gesture is recognized by her faith! She hides the spies and gives them a friendly welcome. This simple gesture put her life in danger, and she did not hesitate at all. Most of all, this admirable gesture serves to glorify God and to put the emphasis on the God of Israel!

By faith Rahab the prostitute did not perish with those who were disobedient, because she had given a friendly welcome to the spies.

Hebrews 11: 31

MacArthur says it well:

“Rahab is a beautiful example of the transforming power of faith. Although she had few spiritual advantages of the truth, her heart was drawn to YHWH.” 2

Again, I am left with a wonderful lesson; the life of this woman in the Word of God greatly encourages me. Yet the biggest gift of all is that, despite our lack of knowledge of our Lord, He can and does use us for His kingdom and His glory, when we let Him drive our lives. She is proof that lack of knowledge is not an excuse when it comes to serving the Lord. Nothing is impossible to our God!

Ève : mère de tous les vivants

Je dois vous dire qu’à la lecture de ce premier chapitre que je qualifie d’intense de par son grand nombre d’informations pertinentes, j’ai du mal à savoir par où commencer dans mon blogue. À mon avis, il mérite d’être relu plusieurs fois. Si vous avez lu mon livre « Femme de Dieu audacieuse », vous avez sûrement remarqué que j’ai touché à plusieurs points dont MacArthur parle dans ce chapitre.

Enfin, il y a un point qui m’a particulièrement touchée dans ce gros chapitre. Dès le départ, MacArthur nous fait remarquer que dans la Parole, il n’y a aucune description physique, ni allusion à la beauté d’Éve. Par contre, le récit biblique se concentre plutôt sur son obligation envers son Créateur et son rôle auprès de son mari. Cette simple phrase m’a touchée directement au cœur, car je trouve que c’est le problème de ma vie à bien des égards de me faire prendre au piège malgré les connaissances bibliques ou la sagesse que Dieu m’accorde. L’ennemi est rusé et connait bien mes faiblesses. C’est difficile de ne pas laisser les idéaux du monde s’infiltrer dans nos vies parfois! Il faut vraiment garder notre obligation prioritairement envers notre Créateur sinon, il nous sera impossible de le garder auprès de notre mari.

J’ai bien aimé revoir les quatre points fondamentaux à comprendre dans la vie d’un couple chrétien pour bien fonctionner selon la Parole.

  • Premièrement, sa création de la femme évoque l’égalité fondamentale qui existe entre Éve et Adam.
  • Deuxièmement, la façon dont Éve a été créée nous rappelle l’unité essentielle qui représente l’idéal de toute relation conjugale.
  • Troisièmement, les circonstances de la création d’Éve illustrent combien le mariage entre un homme et une femme est censé être profond et sérieux.
  • Quatrièmement, la création d’Éve contient d’importantes leçons bibliques à propos du rôle de la femme selon le concept divin.

Je vous écris juste les grandes lignes, mais pour plus de détails, vous avez les explications dans le livre. Ces 4 points bibliques essentiels sont parfois une raison de division dans le couple lorsqu’ils ne sont pas compris et/ou appliqués dans le quotidien de la vie du croyant.

Après l’innocence du jardin d’Éden, il y eut la tentation qui mena à la chute. Pour arriver à ces fins, le serpent a semé le doute en Ève… Il s’est servi de la Parole de Dieu en suggérant que les motifs de Dieu n’étaient pas clairs. Satan rend les paroles de Dieu négatives. Il trompe Ève délibérément et elle le croit. La même chose se reproduit avec Adam qui accuse Dieu.

J’ai dû m’arrêter à ce moment-ci de ma lecture, car bien sûr je me suis reconnue! Je ne suis pas différente d’Éve ou Adam. Lorsque je me sens coincée dans le coin, ma première réaction est d’accuser l’autre au lieu de m’humilier. J’ai le même cœur tordu qui a besoin d’être régénéré par le sang de Christ mort à la croix pour mes péchés.

« Mais chacun est tenté quand il est attiré et amorcé

par sa propre convoitise. »

                                                Jacques 1 :14

Ce verset nous dit explicitement que c’est la convoitise notre problème. La convoitise nous attire et elle nous amorce à pécher. On accuse l’autre ou comme Adam, parfois, on accuse Dieu.

La plus grande leçon que je retire de ce grand chapitre sur Ève est:

  • l’obligation envers mon Créateur de rester attacher à Lui pour être en mesure de contrecarrer les mensonges de l’ennemi avec la Parole lorsqu’il m’attaque!

Ce qui veut dire qu’au quotidien on doit

  • étudier la Bible, la lire, la méditer,
  • prier,
  • fréquenter une assemblée régulièrement,
  • pour avoir des contacts avec des frères et sœurs dans la foi. Car la communauté chrétienne, c’est plus qu’un cercle social, beaucoup plus.

I must say that after reading the first chapter, which I qualify as a highly intense one due to the amount of relevant information, I find it difficult to know what I want to share on my blog. In my opinion, this chapter merits to be read over a couple more times. If you’ve read my book in French – “Femme de Dieu audacieuse”, you already know that I have covered many aspects that MacArthur touches in this very chapter.

There was a particular point that really touched me in this chapter right from the start. MacArthur points out that, in the Bible, there is no physical allusion or description of Eve’s beauty. “The focus of the biblical account is on Eve’s duty to her Creator and her role alongside her husband”. That simple sentence touched me directly to the heart, since I find that many times it is problematic in my own life to be taken captive, despite the wisdom and knowledge that the Lord may grant me. The enemy knows my weaknesses. It is difficult at times not to let the ideals of the world infiltrate our lives! We must really keep our focus and duty in priority towards our Creator, otherwise it will be impossible to keep it towards our husband.

I also enjoyed reviewing these four points that are fundamental to understand in our lives as Christian couples, in order to function well according to the Word of God.

  • First, it speaks of Eve’s fundamental equality with Adam.
  • Second, the way Eve was created reminds us of the essential unity that is the ideal in every marriage relationship.
  • Third, the circumstances of Eve’s creation illustrate how deep and meaningful the marriage of husband and wife is designed to be.
  • Fourth, Eve’s creation contains some important biblical lessons about the divinely-designed role of women.

I have written only the main lines but you have more explanations in your book. These four essential biblical points are sometimes a reason that Christian couples may split up since, most likely, they have not understood or applied them in their everyday lives.

After the innocence of the Garden of Eden, there was the temptation that leads to the fall. To arrive to his means, the serpent had to plant seeds of doubt in Eve…he used the Word of God by suggesting that God’s motives were not clear. Satan turned God’s words negative. He mislead Eve deliberately and she believed him. The same thing was reproduced with Adam who accused God.

I had to pause at this moment in my reading, since of course I could recognize myself here! I am no different from Adam or Eve. When I feel squeezed in a corner, my first reaction will also be to accuse someone else rather than humble myself. My heart is twisted and needs to be washed by the blood of Jesus Christ who died on the cross for me.

But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.

                                                               James 1:14

 

This verse tells us explicitly that our problem is our own desires. Our desires entice us and cause us to sin. We accuse others or maybe like Adam, at times, we accuse God.

The biggest lesson I come out with in this chapter on Eve is:

*My obligation of focusing on my Creator and staying attached to Him, in order to be able to counteract the lies of the enemy with the Word of God when he attacks me!

Which means that in everyday life, it would be best to:

  • Study the Bible, read, and meditate it.
  • Pray
  • Go to a church regularly, (to have communion with brothers and sisters in the faith-the christian community is more than a social circle, much more).

Un événement à ne pas manquer! – An event you won’t want to miss!

Un événement à ne pas manquer!

Le mois de mai arrive à nos portes rapidement et c’est avec une grande excitation que nous l’attendons. Car cette année, nous avons un grand événement qui se déroulera au centre du Québec organisé par FLAMME et SEMBEC pour la conférence qui a lieu chaque année. Les dates sont du 1 au 3 mai. Par contre, ce qui est différent cette année, c’est qu’ils ont fait le choix de faire venir au Québec une conférencière renommée et de grande qualité pour nous nourrir spirituellement.

J’ai eu moi-même le grand privilège d’entendre ses enseignements deux fois à Gospel Coalition en Floride et j’ai été grandement bénie. Elle se nomme Kathleen B. Nielson. Si vous n’avez pas fait votre inscription à ce point-ci, je vous recommande fortement de le faire, car vous manquerez un événement de haute qualité quant à l’enseignement des Écritures. Elle est très posée comme enseignante, mais attention, cela n’enlève rien à la puissance de Dieu, lui qui donne la puissance par l’œuvre de l’enseignement de sa Parole.

Il n’y a sûrement plus de chambre dans l’hôtel sur place, mais je sais qu’ils prennent des inscriptions pour les conférences et les ateliers. Vous pourrez certainement trouver une chambre dans un des hôtels autour.

Pour ma part, je serai au rendez-vous, c’est certain. Je suis très excitée de l’entendre encore une fois! Vous pouvez trouver des informations sur elle ici. Nous serons bénis sans contredit. Elle sait nous pousser « à nous faire aller le cerveau » plus que probablement, nous sommes habitués! J’aime.

An event you won’t want to miss!

The month of May is arriving at our doorstep quite fast and a great event, which is exciting, awaits us. This year, we are having a big event that will take place in the province of Québec, organized by FLAMME and SEMBEQ for our women’s conference that takes place every year. The dates are May 1 to 3. What is different this year is that they have made the choice to invite over a renowned speaker of high quality to feed us spiritually.

I have had the great privileged of hearing her teach the Word of God two times in Florida at Gospel Coalition. Her name is Kathleen B. Nielson. At this point, if you have not yet made your inscription, I highly recommend that you do so. This will be a big event, with high quality teaching of the Scriptures. She is a woman that is well posed as a teacher, yet this in no way takes away the power of her teachings of the Word. His Word is effective through the power of the Holy Spirit because it is His Word!

Most likely there are no more rooms available directly at the hotel, but I know that there are plenty of hotels in the surrounding areas. You can most assuredly find one.

As for me it’s certain I will be there. I am very excited to hear her once again! You can read more information on her here. We will be blessed without a doubt. She knows how to help us “push our minds to go deeper” more than we are likely used to! Love.
